US, China hold talks on nuclear threats

Senior officials from the United States and China have held telephone talks about the North Korean and Iranian nuclear threats.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has spoken to her Chinese counterpart, and while they have discussed North Korea and Iran, neither side is revealing details of the conversation.

There has been international condemnation of North Korea's threat to conduct a nuclear test and a renewed push to resume the stalled six-nation talks aimed at reining in Pyongyang's nuclear program.

The US China talks also come as the United Nations Security Council moves to draft a sanctions resolution against Iran for its failure to halt sensitive nuclear work.
