Three crocodiles captured within Darwin region

The Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Service (NTPWS) says it has now removed three crocodiles from popular waterways in the greater Darwin Region during the past 24 hours.

The three reptiles are now settling into their new home at a local crocodile farm after being removed from Top End waterways.

NTPWS rangers harpooned the first of the crocodiles at the popular recreation area of Manton Dam 76 kilometres south of Darwin last night.

Another reptile was discovered during standard trap checks at Darwin rural area's Howard River park this morning.

Rangers says that discovery comes just two weeks after a 3.2-metre crocodile was removed from the same spot.

The third, a 2.8-metre male, was found in traps at West Arm in Darwin Harbour.

The catch takes the total number of crocodiles removed from Darwin's waterways this year to 169.
