Mental health services ramped up
The Tasmanian Government says it has reached a major milestone in reforming the state's mental health system.
A range of new programs have been introduced to ensure a better integrated and more efficient service.
The new services form part of the Government's $47 million expansion of mental health services.
A help line will be established and will be manned by clinicians experienced in identifying mental health problems.
The Health Minister, Lara Giddings, says the new service will streamline the assessment process and ensure prompt referral.
In addition, from today three mental health teams will begin work in southern Tasmania and another two in Launceston.
The teams will be involved in assessment, case management, education and rehabilitation.
