Bligh's secret dam site visit condemned

Queensland's Acting Premier says she will return to the proposed Mary River dam site within a few months to reveal its exact location.

The Opposition has criticised Anna Bligh for secretly visiting the area near Gympie yesterday.

Ms Bligh says she toured the site to get a sense of the size and scale of the project.

She met one local resident but did not publicly reveal her visit until it was over.

Opposition Leader Jeff Seeney says Ms Bligh probably feared the reception she would get.

"She snuck up there in secret because she certainly would have been greeted by protesters," he said.

But Ms Bligh says there will be plenty of opportunities for public meetings.

"The next time I visit the Traveston area, it will be to meet with those communities in a public forum, to provide them with further information," she said.

She says the Government will soon be able to provide final details of the dam's boundaries.
